Successful Implementation of Urban Farming in Jakarta Presented at UAWS in Japan

Successful implementation of urban farming in Jakarta was presented at the Urban Agriculture and World Summit (UAWS) in Nerima City, Tokyo, Japan. 

This year, Jakarta Government encourages the young people and housewives to utilize limited spaces for urban farming

Explanation of the succession of urban farming implementation in Jakarta was delivered during the symposium session at Nerima City Cultural Center, Sunday (12/1). There were researchers, academics, and urban agriculture activists and citizens who want to learn more about urban farming plus its execution in all invited cities.

Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Department 's Urban Farming Section Head, Taufik Yulianto mentioned that Jakarta Government was very serious in developing urban farming in Jakarta.

"This year, Jakarta Government encourages the young people and housewives to utilize limited spaces for urban farming," he conveyed, through a written statement on Monday (12/2).

During the presentation, his side was also introduced to the main target location for urban farming development that has been and is being carried out in Jakarta.

"Its development is targeting public spaces such as public housing, unused land, yard or green alley, school's yard, office, RTPRA and seabed," he said.

Here were the symposium speakers who deliver the materials about urban farming: Taufik Yulianto from Jakarta, Sarah Williams from Greater London, Bill LoSasso from New York City, Ronda Teitel-Payne from Toronto City, Imbong Song from Seoul City, and Shiraishi Yoshitaka from Nerima City.

They presented each cities' efforts in developing urban farming.
